Driving AI Innovation in Africa: WATRA at TAS25

WATRA attended the Transform Africa Summit (TAS25) which held from the 12th to the 14th of November 2025 in Conakry, Guinea.

TAS25, organized by the Smart Africa Alliance in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Guinea, was the 7th edition of the summit, which is an annual forum on digital transformation, bringing together heads of state, government ministers, regulators, global business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and innovators. This year’s summit, organized under the theme. “AI for Africa: Innovate Locally, Impact Globally”, was comprised of high-level forums, exhibitions, investment forums, cultural galas, networking, and a contest showcasing innovations by young African women in AI, all designed for participants to gain insights into how AI can transform governance, education, health, finance, and entrepreneurship while ensuring inclusivity and ethical practices.

Engr. Aliyu Yusuf Aboki, WATRA’s Executive Secretary, was a speaker on a panel held on the second day of the summit titled “The Role of AI in Charting the future of the One Africa Network.” The One Africa Network is a Smart Africa initiative aimed at creating a unified continental telecommunications space for affordable roaming and seamless cross-border connectivity. The session, featuring the Executive Secretary as well as other regulatory leaders and technical experts, discussed how Artificial Intelligence can accelerate the implementation of the One Africa Network’s goals.
