The 40th Executive Committee Meeting (ECM) of WATRA held on the 9th of October 2025 in hybrid mode, with attendees joining both online and at the Association’s Secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria. The meeting was attended by the members of the Executive Committee – the Chairman, ARN-Guinea Bissau, the 1st Vice Chairman, ARCEP-Togo, and the 2nd Vice Chairman, ARCEP-Benin – and by the Executive Secretary of WATRA, Mr. Aliyu Yusuf Aboki.  

The 40th ECM reviewed the activities of the Secretariat for year 2025 in accordance with the resolutions of the 22nd AGM of WATRA held in April 2025 in Guinea Bissau, Republic of Guinea Bissau as well as the decisions of the 39th Executive Committee Meeting of WATRA. These discussions covered several areas of importance for the Assembly: financing, budgets, and membership dues, stakeholder engagement and collaboration, Secretariat staff and facilities management, expertise and knowledge consolidation, and regulation implementation. 

In addition, the last hour of the meeting saw the inauguration of the new Technical Committee for Drafting the Strategic Plan of WATRA for the year 2026 through 2030. The Committee’s mandate is to evaluate the current vision, mission, and strategic plan of the Assembly, and to develop and present a new draft Strategic Plan for subsequent adoption at the next Annual General Meeting.
