Following the successful review of the constitution, a draft version was produced and shared with Members. A Validation Workshop of the revised constitution was hosted by the National Communications Authority (NatCA), at Freetown Sierra Leone from the 13th to 17th of February 2023.
To complete the validation process, the mandate of the Technical Committee was extended for a period of three (3) months following resolution AGA20/CR/23/R07 of the 20th Annual General Meeting at Bamako.
The Workshop was attended by 12 of the 16 Members of WATRA as follows; ARCEP of the Republic of Benin, ARTCI of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, PURA of the Republic of The Gambia, NCA of the Republic of Ghana, ARPT of the Republic of Guinea, ARE of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, AMRTP of the Republic of Mali, ARCEP of the Republic of Niger, NCC of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, NatCA of the Republic of Sierra Leone, ARTP of the Republic of Senegal and ARCEP of the Republic of Togo.
The opening ceremony was marked by remarks and speeches by Mr. Aliyu Yusuf Aboki, Executive Secretary of WATRA; M. Lamine Mahamadou Diallo, Chairman of the Constitution Review Committee, Director of Regulatory Affairs of AMRTP-Mali and The Executive Vice-Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), represented by the Director of Special Duties, Dr. Ikechukwu Adinde.
