In what is a significant step towards the full implementation of the ECOWAS Regional Roaming Regulation, WATRA, represented by Mr. Amara Brewah, Chairman of the WATRA Executive Committee and DG of NatCA, was in attendance at the Tripartite In-person Roaming Meeting between NatCA of Sierra Leone, PURA of The Gambia, and LTA of Liberia.
The meeting, which held from the 29th to 31st of January 2025 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, saw the convening of regulators from all three National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs), as well as representatives of their respective mobile operators, to undertake the signing of bilateral agreements to implement free roaming between Sierra Leone and the Gambia, Sierra Leone and Liberia, and Liberia and the Gambia.
The signing of these agreements marks a pivotal moment in fostering regional collaboration and connectivity. The further implementation of the ECOWAS Regional Roaming will serve to create better opportunities for business, increase regional integration, and overall contribute to a better-connected West Africa.
