The one-day event which held on the 14th of June 2023, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, was graced with the presence and speeches of; Mr. Jean-Martial Adou, representing the Ministry forCommunication and Digital Economy of Côte d’Ivoire and Mr. Kwamé Baah Acheamfour, representing the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation of Ghana.
The official opening ceremony comes after a series of bilateral engagements between the National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) of the two (2) nations; ARTCI-Côte d’Ivoire and NCA-Ghana who are members of WATRA, alongside the operators of the respective nations.
WATRA Secretariat was in attendance and gave an overview of the general situation of the status of implementation of the ECOWAS Roaming Regulation C/REG.21/12/17, which aims to implement community roaming services across the region to facilitate the creation of an integrated ICT market in the sub-region which will ultimately improve the daily lives of its citizens.
The event is hoped to serve as guidance and encouragement to the rest of the members of the sub-region, to follow suit and foster the achievement of the set objectives of the regulation.
